Along with his wife Abigail, Adams was the conscience of the new United States, shining a spotlight on the gap between its ideals and its reality. We can understand modern #socialjustice movements (e.g. #blacklivesmatter, #climatechange, Income Inequality) in the same way – those advocates are simply asking us to live up to the promises the United States makes in its #marketing material.

In this video, I read an excerpt from Chapter 2 – John Adams. But really, this chapter is just as much (or even more) about his wife, Abigail – one of the most amazing people the young United States produced.
